‘We are thrilled with Jo’s work. Each year, we seek to acquire sponsorship to increase our production budget and ultimately the quality of our shows both live and on screen. Jo has created a brand that is both playful enough to match the festive tone of the business whilst being sophisticated enough to entice corporate interest which is imperative to our success.’

The Christmas Network for Active TV

The Christmas Network was created to exist under the umbrella of Active TV, one of Australasia’s most prominent production houses. This Emmy nominated powerhouse hosts a variety of Christmas events around Australia including Sydney's Carols in the Domain' and Adelaides 'Carols by Candlelight'. The Christmas Network functions to operate these televised events, create Christmas related content and host them in an online platform.

The elegant aesthetic of the branding is crafted to encourage corporate sponsorship with the intent to increase production budgets and therefore contribute to the quality of the shows and their network affiliation. The majority of the televised events are held at night. As such, the brand utilises a sophisticated night-time colour scheme, festively titled ‘Nutcracker Navy’. Appropriately corporate without being too stiff.

The Christmas Network logo and variations consist of mono-line font work, existing as a series of wires morphing into a network of fairy lights feeding into its namesake.

The wires can be arranged into a standard wreath or spiralled into a 3 dimensional Christmas tree. The mono-line illustration technique lends itself to further animated opportunities when building out the brand.

The challenge with a mono-line based logo, is to retain legibility at all scales. As seen with the stamp variation, the intricate tree shaped icon is designed to retain both legibility and brand spirit.

The gold foil overlay whilst not always essential, is a decadent detail that can be applied to related print materials where an additional layer of lux can really seal the deal.
